Billions of dollars are going into the self-improvement industry each year. All over the world, people are trying to regain or improve their confidence. One thing that experts say helps is to have a smile you’re proud of.

Sharing smiles with other people boosts our positive feelings toward ourselves and each other. It creates the impression that you’re a confident, outgoing person, even if you’re not. A smile can completely change someone’s mood for the better.

But if you’re always hiding your smile because you think it has ‘flaws’ in it, you don’t get to enjoy this mutual happiness-boosting. Over time, this often leads to mental health problems like depression.

The good news is that fixing your smile can be easier than—and a quick first step to—changing your mental health. Cosmetic dental procedures, like same day implants, are performed all over the world, like at Dr. Julia Snyder’s office.

Dental implants are a cosmetic technique that replaces missing and decayed teeth. Today’s technology does this so well that it’s next to impossible to tell the implant from your natural teeth.

Traditional implants can take months to complete the process. But some offices are able to offer full dental implants in one day!

“How can dental implants be done in one day” is a commonly asked question. It requires the dentist and staff to have extra training to learn the procedure and specialized equipment to do the work.

At Dr. Snyder’s office, we are happy to have this designation. We’re one of the few dental offices in the area that can perform same day dental implants on qualified patients.

If you’re intrigued and want to know more about this innovative technique, read on to find out what it is and if you may qualify for it!

What Are Implants?

When you picture dental implants, what do you see? Most people imagine a little tooth-shaped replacement that sticks into the gums. While this is kind of accurate, the reality is a bit more detailed. It needs to be understood to know what same day implants are.

An implant is not the tooth itself. It’s more of the piece of the whole picture that replaces the root of your natural tooth.

The implant is a small, screw-shaped post that is inserted into the jawbone. When it’s fused together (in a process called osseointegration), it’s strong enough to keep your new ‘tooth’ from moving.

The part that replaces your actual visible tooth is called a crown. It’s cemented to the implant with a bonding agent that prevents it from detaching from the implant.

The difference between one day dental implants vs traditional implants is the process in which these parts are placed.

Steps to New Implants

The way implants are performed today has evolved over the past few decades. The first recorded implant was back in 1958, and since then, we’ve streamlined the process and enhanced the safety measures.

Traditional implants require three separate visits to complete the minor surgeries that are involved.

On the first surgical visit, any teeth that need to be pulled for the implants to be placed will be extracted. The cavity left behind has to heal, and then you can schedule your next visit. During this time, though, it’s important to monitor the gap for bacteria growth and infection or other complications.

On the second visit, your new implants are surgically inserted into the jawbone through the new ‘gap.’ Once the osseointegration process is complete, which can take a few weeks or a couple of months, the final step can occur.

The last step is the placement of the crown. Your new ‘tooth’ is bonded to the implant, and when it’s ready, it functions like a natural tooth. You can chew, eat, and talk exactly like you would with a mouth of natural teeth!

Dentist Implants in a Day

But the lengthy process deters some people from getting implants. If you’re one of many who have been considering dental implants but don’t want to wait, denture implants in one day may be your solution.

The main difference in the procedure is that with this newer technique, the tooth extraction and implant are on the same day. Immediate dental implants replace the gap when the tooth is pulled. The implant goes into the jawbone, and the crown is cemented to the implant.

Since all of this happens on the same visit, it takes longer for the procedure to be completed. But the recovery process is reduced by months, and there’s less chance of infection or complication.

The one drawback is that because all three surgeries are done at once, there’s usually more swelling and discomfort with this procedure. Some people, however, prefer getting the pain out of the way and moving forward. You won’t have to go through it again.

You’ll only need to come back for a check-up so that we can make sure your implants are healing properly. You have your new smile, and it was all done in one visit!

Quality Candidates for Same Day Dental Implants

If your oral and physical health are good, you may qualify for this procedure! Because there’s more done at once, with all the parts combined into one surgery, it’s harder on your body. You have to be in good health to be a quality candidate.

To find out if you are, it’s best to schedule a consultation with Dr. Snyder. She’ll review your medical and dental history, check your jawbone density, and talk to you about your oral health goals. If same day dental implants aren’t for you, she’ll discuss other treatment options that are.

If you’re concerned about same day teeth implants cost and coverage, that can be discussed at your visit, too. Everyone’s dental health is unique. Without an evaluation, it’s hard to give you an accurate estimate of what the same day teeth cost will be.

Those questions and any others that you have will be answered when you contact Dr. Snyder’s office for an appointment. Whether you need a cleaning and annual exam, or you have problems that you want fixed, we’re here to help you. Our mission is to make sure you keep or build your confidence with a healthy smile!
